Skid Avoidance and Control

How many in the class and how long does it last?

Ratio: 1:1 or 2:1

Duration: 1/2 day

Where is it?

Choose from North Weald Aerodrome Essex or one of five locations throughout the UK to suit you.

Training may be given in either a Skid Car or a Skid Pan environment.

What vehicle will we use?

We’ll use one of the ATC vehicles.

What are we trying to achieve?

Using one of ATC’s modern specialist rear wheel or front wheel drive skid cars, fitted with all of the common stability system we safely and controllably recreate any driving scenario. The hydraulic technology built into these cars allow us to manipulate the driving experience to recreate different driving environments resulting in different levels of grip.

This safe training scenario allows a delegate to:

  • Develop the skills to avoid these situations occurring
  • Develop the skills to take the correct course of action should such a situation arise

Through careful analysis, we have identified that it is a driver’s first and often instinctive reaction that can make a car go out of control. By recreating these emergency situations it allows participants to be coached on overcoming their instinctive reaction in order to take the appropriate corrective action.

It is our strong belief that prevention is better than cure, and we see ATC’s Skid Avoidance and Control courses as a perfect program to be run adjacent to our Proactive Driver Training.
